Gay Friendly Travel Guide to Barcelona Spain
Barcelona is Spain's second largest city. Only Madrid is bigger - and the two cities "enjoy" a hostile rivalry.

Most tourists prefer Barcelona because (among many other things) it enjoys a better location (on the coast), nicer weather,
friendlier natives, a more relaxed - less businesslike atmosphere, and far more to do and see in the surrounding countryside.

The architecture in Barcelona has to be seen to be believed - even if you have no interest whatsoever in architecture, the
buildings here will amaze, amuse and inspire you like nowhere else on the planet.

Barcelona also boasts a fascinating history, some fabulous art galleries, excellent places to eat & drink, and shopping to die for!

The thriving gay scene in Barcelona offers something for every taste - from chic and sophisticated, to downright dirty!
Las Ramblas
The most famous street in town is La Rambla - a heady mix of shops, bars, eateries,
street-performers, and much more - including an original Miro mosaic on the pavement!
La Rambla is actually several small streets joined together (hence Las Ramblas).
It starts near Port Vell, and leads 1.2Km into the town, ending at Placa Catalunya.
A wonderful place to stroll, sight-see, shop and people-watch, but there are better
places to eat - due to sheer numbers, prices here are high and service is poor.

Warning: Las Ramblas attracts pickpockets like flies - so guard your valuables!
Gay Barcelona
Barcelona has lots of gay bars and gay-friendly restaurants throughout the city - but the main gay "village" is in the area known as
Eixample (pronounced eye-sham-play). Here you'll find dozens of bars and clubs - and a great atmosphere.

Hot Tip
The wonderful gay haven (read heaven) of Sitges is just a 30 minute train ride away - so make sure you go there!

Cruising in Barcelona
The main cruising areas are 'Chernobyl Beach' near Sant Roc. (daytime cruising - mostly older guys).
And 'Montjuic Park' - day and night cruising. Very popular with younger, pretty types.
